Cloudinary alternative
PicPerf is a Cloudinary alternative for image-only teams: drop-in URL prefixing, unique-image pricing, and no bandwidth cap.

Best Cloudinary alternative if you only needed faster images:
PicPerf. Prefix https://picperf.io/ onto URLs you already have, or
upload originals. Files convert to AVIF/WebP when smaller, cache on a CDN, and
bill by unique image with no bandwidth cap. Keep Cloudinary if video, a DAM, or
the transformation catalog is the product. Evaluators should read Cloudinary vs. PicPerf
instead of this page.
| PicPerf (alternative) | Cloudinary (what you are leaving) | |
|---|---|---|
| Job | Make images light, fast, and cached | Full media platform (images, video, DAM, AI) |
| Pricing | $5/month for 500 unique images, then $0.01–$0.02 | Credit system across transforms, bandwidth, storage |
| Bandwidth | No cap | Plan- and credit-dependent; custom plans for high use |
| Remote / origin images | Prefix is the default | Fetch exists; more setup than a prefix |
| Implementation | Minutes: prefix, plugin, or upload | Cloud name, presets, often an SDK |
| When to stay | You only ship still images | Video, DAM, or AI transforms are in production |
Who Should Not Switch
If Cloudinary is your video pipeline or your media library, swapping the image slice to PicPerf and leaving video behind is a full migration. Plan the non-image products first. This alternative is for sites that bought a media suite to compress JPEGs.
A Practical Cutover
-
Find delivery URLs (
res.cloudinary.comor a custom CNAME) and the original files they point at. - Serve those originals through PicPerf (prefix or hosting). WordPress sites can use the official plugin.
- Check that the smaller format actually ships (PicPerf will keep the original if AVIF/WebP is larger), then remove Cloudinary from templates.
